Maʿhad Shaykh ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī

A specialized jurisprudential institute teaching the four madhāhib, with an emphasis on the Ḥanbalī school — in its jurisprudence, principles, evidences, maxims, and branches — under the guidance of qualified scholars.

Approach

Classes follow the classical model: the matn is read aloud, evidences are presented, principles are named, maxims are surfaced, and branches are traced. Each session builds on the one before it.

Curriculum

Courses span fiqh, uṣūl, ʿaqīdah, naḥw, ṣarf, sīrah, muṣṭalaḥ, and ʿilm al-kalām — covering both foundational and advanced texts across the four schools.

Chain

Every course traces its teaching lineage back through recognized scholars. The isnād is not a formality — it is the living connective tissue of transmitted knowledge.

Founder & Lead Instructor

Sh. Muḥammad Abū Yūnus is the founder and lead instructor of the Maʿhad. He has dedicated himself to teaching the Islamic sciences according to the methodology of the classical scholars, with a particular focus on the Ḥanbalī madhhab and its transmitted literature.

His classes span the breadth of the traditional curriculum — from introductory texts in fiqh and naḥw to advanced works in uṣūl al-fiqh and the principles of the Ḥanbalī school. He teaches with a careful attention to the chain of transmission, ensuring each text is understood within its scholarly context.

He currently leads courses in fiqh, uṣūl, ʿaqīdah, naḥw, ṣarf, and sīrah — covering both the Ḥanbalī foundational texts and comparative works across the four schools.
